You should go to Skaneateles, NY. It is gorgeous. And while you're there, you should eat at Doug's Fish Fry. And you should get a t-shirt there. Their tees say "Eat Fish" which can be funny and is a wise command. Oh and, the name of the town is pronounced "skinny atlas." It's about 5 hours from NYC and for the majority of the drive (if you are a city slicker) you will just keep remarking about the beauty around you; the rivers, the various shades of leaf, etc. It is a very guhd place for a long summer weekend.

Skinny Atlas is definitely beautiful. The lake is a gorgeous shade of slate blue and the surrounding green grass is like an old man's beard protecting this lake. Doug's has wonderful fried seafood concoctions and the smell will not leave you long after you've left. Literally.
